This free monthly event takes place over many blocks in Downtown Los Angeles. Many galleries will open late, and some parking lots will contain more art, vendors, food trucks, entertainment, and more. Unless you know business owners, free parking does not exist in Downtown LA, although some meters only operate until 8pm. First-time visitors should attend with someone who has gone here before.

Taking place a week prior to the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, the Formula Drift competition utilizes the sharpest turns of the track to put on a show that everyone can enjoy. Feel the excitement as drivers throw on their best drifting performance while narrowly dodging massive wipeouts. Guests may also visit a vendor village, receive autographs from drivers, see the pits up close and personal, and more. Tickets vary in price, but general admission to the Saturday main event costs $24 plus fees up to $10. Parking at the convention center costs $10, so plan to carpool, take public transportation, or park in the neighborhood to the east to alleviate that parking fee.

Long Beach Roller Derby – Garden of Beaten

City Challenge Urban Race 5K & Half Marathon – Huntington Beach

This Saturday, participate in this one-of-a-kind scavenger hunt & race! Compete with a partner or as an individual to locate and solve 12 different riddles and puzzles in a 5K or half marathon span. Due to the nature of this challenge run, all participants runs at their own pace, and can run in any direction since participants can solve the challenges in any order. Participants may use portable devices or tools to solve challenges (smartphones, ask people, etc), but must remain on their feet, meaning no bikes, skates, cars, etc. Participation costs $50 per individual, so a team of two costs $100. All participants must bring a camera or any device that can capture a photo in order to show proof of completing a challenge. Packet pickup starts at 11am at the Huntington Beach Beer Co., and the race starts at 12pm. Because of the prompt start time, I highly recommend arriving very early and securing parking, or you will certainly get stuck in heavy traffic on the way to Downtown Huntington Beach.

Gray Cloud Cigar & Craft Beer Pairing Festival
