Fiesta Hermosa returned to the streets of Downtown Hermosa Beach this past weekend. Free to park and attend, this street fair will have food, drinks, music, arts & crafts, games, rides, vendors, and more. You cannot park AT the event – for those driving, you must park at the Northrop Grumman Building at Marine & Aviation in Redondo Beach, and a free shuttle will carry you to and from the fest and parking lot.

Long Beach Greek Festival

At this Greek Festival, you will find Greek foods & desserts, drinks, dancers, music, games, rides, arts & crafts, vendors, exhibits, and more. CSULB provides free parking and shuttle rides. Print the voucher from the website to waive the admission fee.

Orange County Psycho Punk Fest #4
6:30 pm – 11:30 pm, September 2
House of Blues, Downtown Disney, Anaheim

A bunch of Orange County punk bands will perform on TWO stages at the House of Blues this Tuesday night. Tickets to this show cost $10, but contact any of the bands directly to score free tickets. I also have extra tickets, so reach out to me if you want free tickets as well. No one under 18 may attend this show. Guests may park for free for up to five hours with the show’s wristband, so plan your arrival accordingly.

Stiff Little Fingers – On Tour

Stiff Little Fingers will headline two shows in the greater Los Angeles area this week. Tickets to both of these all-ages shows cost $25. The band will also have copies of their new album, No Going Back, available for sale, so have some extra cash available if you want to purchase a copy.

Dirty Little Secrets Rock Burlesque – First Wednesdays @ The Copper Door

Long Beach Coin, Stamp, & Sports Collectible Expo

This show brings tens of thousands of collectors worldwide to share, buy, sell, and trade their collectibles. Complete with seminars, workshops, press conferences, vendor booths, auctions, and more, this all-ages expo will delight anyone interested in collecting valuable goods. Admission costs $8, with discounts available for seniors and children. Parking at the convention center costs $10.

Huntington Beach Food, Art, & Music Festival

Get lost in a sea of people at this massive festival this weekend on the beach in Huntington Beach. Find BBQ, art, live music, beer, and plenty more to see & do all weekend. 3rd Annual Reader Feast

The San Diego Reader hosts this food fest that collects the best of San Diego eats into one location for a night of feasting and drinking. General admission costs $30 presale and $60 at the door, starts at 6pm, and provides all-access to all food & drink samples. VIP admission costs $40 presale and $80 at the door, starts at 5pm, and in addition to unlimited food & drink samples, comes with two full-pour drinks and a goodie bag. No one under 21 may attend.

First Fridays

This monthly artwalk occurs on the first Friday of every month. Each location offers different activities, but most will contain food & drink specials, art exhibits & displays, street performers, and more. Venice and Long Beach have the two largest gatherings of all First Fridays. Other locations include Westchester, Fullerton, and City of Industry. Most First Fridays locations cost nothing to attend, while the local businesses uphold their standard rules (e.g. bars 21+ only).

16th Annual Los Angeles Greek Festival

Dubbed as the FIRST Lobster Festival, the organizers from the Long Beach Crawfish Fest and OC BBQ Bonanza will bring tons of lobsters to Rainbow Lagoon Park this weekend. In addition to all the lobster, the fest’s additional variety will include local music bands, dancers, artists, and more. Prices vary, but pre-purchasing tickets online will save you $2 each. Active U.S. military personnel can enter for free! As with any event in this area, attendees will have to pay for parking. You can find free parking in the neighborhoods east of Alamitos Avenue.

OC Weekly’s 11th Annual Decadence
7:00 pm – 10:00 pm, September 5

Come enjoy a night of food, drinks, music, dancing, and more. This festival for the senses will feature over 30 local restaurants, live music & DJ’s, local dance performers, signature cocktails, wild animal exhibits, and more. All-inclusive admission costs $35 presale, or $40 at the door if any tickets remain. No one under 21 may attend.

Reunion Ale Fundraiser

The Surly Goat, West Hollywood

Come sip on some rare brews while raising money for charity this Friday night at The Surly Goat in West Hollywood. Buy any of the featured brews, and a portion of the sales will benefit bone cancer research. Visitors may also purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win bottles of the special brews to take home.

Skunk & Pedz Birthday Blast

Good Riddance – Two Shows

Good Riddance will headline two shows in Southern California this weekend, one in Thousand Oaks on Friday night, and one in Long Beach on Saturday night. Tickets to both of these shows cost $15. For the show in Thousand Oaks, any attendee under 21 must enter with an attendee over 21. For the Long Beach show, admission at the door costs $17 if the show has not sold out by then, and no one under 21 may enter.

The Secret Affair – 60’s Night

Alex’s Bar, Long Beach

Occurring on every month’s first Friday, this 60’s night at Alex’s Bar will play all vinyl music of motown, northern soul, boogaloo, 60’s pop, and more. Feel free to dress up too, as the bar staff will hold costume contests and dance contests. No one under 21 may enter.

2014 Grape Day Festival + Wine & Craft Beer Tasting Pavilion
7:00 am – 4:00 pm, September 6
Grape Day Park, Escondido

Bring out the family to this all-day celebration at the park. In the morning, a 5K race will take place around the park. At 9:30am, a local parade will run through Downtown Escondido. From then until the end of the celebration, a fair will take place at Grape Day Park, free to the public to attend. In addition, a wine & craft beer tasting pavilion will take place from 11am to 3pm. Sample wine from local wineries and beer from local breweries while enjoying live entertainment and other activities. Admission costs $20 presale and $25 at the door, and include a souvenir glass. No one under 21 may attend.

Aquarium of the Pacific 5k Run/Walk
7:30 am – 11:30 am, September 6
Aquarium of the Pacific, Long Beach

Go on a nice 5k run down on the beach this Sunday morning starting at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. All participants who register prior to race day will receive a t-shirt, goodie bag, and a ticket to the aquarium with registration. Registration costs $44 for children, and $52 for adults. Aquarium members can save $12 on registration. Bring cash for parking in the aquarium parking structure.

Solana Beach Super Tasty 5k
10:00 am – 2:00 pm, September 6
Fletcher Cove, Solana Beach, San Diego

Participate in a 5k unlike any other! This 5k course contains numerous restaurant stops that all participants must stop by and eat the required amount of food before moving on to the next. Typically runners avoid racing with food in their stomachs, but this run encourages running on a full belly. Registration for this run costs $40 per individual, with various price options for groups.

The 5th Annual Orange County Brew Ha Ha Craft Beer Festival
12:00 pm – 5:00 pm, September 6
Oak Canyon Park, Irvine

The OC Brew Ha Ha returns for its fifth annual iteration this Saturday at Oak Canyon Park in the hills of Irvine. Benefiting the Local 3631 Firefighters Union, this craft beer festival will feature over 70 different breweries, over 150 different beers, many food trucks, seminars from beer experts, live entertainment, and more. General admission costs $45 presale, $55 at the door, and begins at 1pm, while VIP admission costs $60 presale, $70 at the door, and begins at 12pm. All beers will cease pouring at 4pm, leaving the final hour to sober up and find food.

Speaking of transportation, ensure that you look up the location prior. Cell phone signals do not reach Oak Canyon Park, so once you arrive, expect to turn off your phone to conserve battery. Oak Canyon Park only has two ways to exit, both of which always have police stationed to catch drunk drivers. The toll-free method to arriving involves taking the 55 freeway, exiting Chapman Avenue, and driving east until you reach the park.

4th Annual Treasure Chest Fest

Green Flash Brewing, San Diego

Raise a glass for breast cancer awareness at this beer fest & fundraiser this Saturday at Green Flash Brewing. Attendees will get to see the ins & outs of the brewery at this fest that takes place all around the brewery. The $40 admission gets you ten beer tasters, paired small bites from local restaurants, and a souvenir glass. Attendees may purchase additional beers from the tasting room, where $1 from each drink sold will go towards the charity. No one under 21 may attend.

California Beer Festival

4th Annual Konsept Art & Music Festival

This free and all-ages outdoors events features art, music, fashion, photography, live entertainment, and more, all rolled into one street fest.

Ranch Roundup – Whoop It Up For Kids

Feast for a cause at this family-friendly fundraiser in Long Beach this Saturday evening. Enjoy live country music, line dancing lessons, open-pit barbecue, cowboy/cowgirl costume contests, silent auctions, vendors, arts & crafts, poker tournaments, and more. Admission to this event costs $125 per person and includes parking and food. All auctions, vendors, and card games come at their own cost.

6th Annual BuskerFest

East Village Arts District, Long Beach

BuskerFest returns to Long Beach this Saturday. Like the Long Beach Funk Fest, various bands will perform on buskers in the East Village Arts Districts, with the headliners playing on the main stage. Free to attend for all ages, fans of music will surely want to come here. For long-term parking, search for street parking in neighborhoods to the east or north.

Guttermouth @ Tiki Bar

Famous punk band Guttermouth will headline a small show at Tiki Bar this Saturday night. Tickets to this show cost $15. No one under 21 may attend.

The 25th Annual Belmont Shore Car Show

2nd Street, Belmont Shore, Long Beach

This car show will completely take over 2nd Street and its side streets this Sunday. Come see over 700 cars on display while walking the streets of glorious Belmont Shore. Completely free to attend, your best bet at parking will reside somewhere in Belmont Heights i.e. north of 2nd Street.

2014 Harvest Moon Festival

Arcadia County Park, Arcadia

Considered an Asian Thanksgiving, this all-ages Asian cultural festival will take place this Sunday afternoon at Arcadia County Park. Completely FREE to attend, guests will find food, drinks, desserts, live entertainment, games, rides, a kid’s area, and more. Guests can park for free at the Santa Anita Racetrack by entering Gate 5 and taking the shuttle once inside.

Four Sons Brewing – Grand Opening

A new brewery joins the prestigious list of Orange County breweries and opens their doors to the public this Sunday afternoon. Four Sons Brewing out of Huntington Beach will have five taps ready for their opening day, plus a special keg that they will tap halfway through the day.
