Taste food samples from Anaheim’s great local establishments this Thursday evening at the GardenWalk near Disneyland. Admission costs $35 presale and $45 at the door, and comes with unlimited food samples from all participating restaurants while supplies last. In addition to free parking, guests may bid on various prizes in a silent auction. All drinks come at an additional price.

This free monthly event takes place over many blocks in Downtown Los Angeles. Many galleries will open late, and some parking lots will contain more art, vendors, food trucks, entertainment, and more. Unless you know business owners, free parking does not exist in Downtown LA, although some meters only operate until 8pm. First-time visitors should attend with someone who has gone here before.

Join hundreds of locals on a bike ride through Long Beach this Saturday morning, including the mayor and more city officials. This race for charity features different levels of riding for all skill levels, starting with the 100-mile ride, all the way down to the 4-mile family ride. Registration, which closes Thursday night, varies in cost based on the ride length, while the family ride comes at no cost. The end of the Tour of Long Beach coincides with Bike Fest Long Beach, taking place at the finish line and opening at 9:30.

Enjoy a family-fun day filled with bike activities, vendors, and exhibits at the finish line of the Tour of Long Beach, located at The Pike right next to the Laugh Factory. This free all-ages event will feature bike exhibits, live entertainment, a bike valet, rides, games, vendors, food, a mini beer fest hosted by Beachwood BBQ, and more. The mini beer fest has no admission fee, so guests pay as they go. In addition to beers from Beachwood Brewing, other local breweries will make an appearance too.

Comic fans rejoice! The Long Beach Comic Con returns for its semiannual installment at the Long Beach Convention Center this Saturday. For just $15 general admission, guests receive all-day entry to the all-ages expo, where they can find plenty of merchandise, vendors, workshops, seminars, comic book signings/autographs, and more. Expect hundreds of cosplayers, as both exhibitors and attendees will dress up as their favorite fictional character. The convention center will sell food to hungry guests, but you can also check out the other great restaurants nearby if you get hungry, plus the bike fest going on across the street. Convention Center parking costs $10, so I suggest taking carpooling, taking public transportation, or parking in the neighborhoods east of Alamitos Ave and walking to the Convention Center.

2nd Annual West Coast BBQ Classic

BBQ experts from around the country will fly in this weekend to compete at the Queen Mary for the annual Best BBQ of the West title. Guests can help judges decide which contestant deserves to win the $9,000 cash prize by sampling all the BBQ and voting for the favorites. Entry costs $10 presale and $15 at the door, with parking costing $10. Once inside, guests can receive food samplers from the contestants for $2 each. In addition to all the smoke & meat around, live bands will play music all day, games will keep everyone occupied, select vendors will sell their related merchandise, Jack Daniels will open a lounge for all adults, while a separate kids’ county will house the little ones, and some of the LA Kings crew will make an appearance.

Their website describes this event best: “The largest independent design show in the country, attendees get the rare chance to meet and shop directly from over 350 hand-selected designers and artists. The exciting two-day shopping event makes it easy for you to buy local and support LA’s economy, discover great design and deals, join in community, and have a blast.” The $10 admission allows for unlimited reentry for both days, and anyone buying presale online will receive a free tote bag. Guests over 21 can receive free cocktails, while all guests may receive other free drinks, like teas and waters. The show will also feature some of LA’s most popular restaurants and food trucks serving their delicious food. Parking directly at the venue costs $6, while nearby parking lots will range from $3-5.

Taste great beers from breweries along the 78 Corridor at this mini festival this Saturday afternoon. Plenty of food trucks will come out too, making this a beer fest & food truck fest in one. Admission costs $20 presale and $30 at the door. Although guests of all ages can visit the food trucks, only guests 21 or over may enter the beer area.

If you have ran in a color run before, prepare yourself for a new light. This 5K run/walk combines racing with a scavenger hunt and plenty of lights to brighten up the night. Teams compete to locate clues spread out among the city, and race to the finish line at the same time. Following the race, participants can party at the After-Glow Party at the finish line. Although tickets originally sold out over a month ago, the organizers just released a few hundred tickets at $80 each, so register now before all the tickets sell out!
