Covina’s Alosta Brewing brings back their Pintwood Derby for its fourth year running this Saturday after. Now moving to the Glendora Public Library, this charity fundraiser will see numerous people enter their crafted (toy) cars to race for trophies. Participants will pay the entry fee to create a small car that would run down a track, purely powered by gravity and friction. Alosta Brewing sells a starter kit for $5 for those not familiar with designing the small car. Children will compete in their own division, while adults will compete in an adults division. This year’s event will operate slightly different than previous years, as Alosta Brewing will turn this event into a mini beer festival as well. It costs $30 to attend the beer festival, which will take place outside the building that the racing will take place in. Attendees will receive unlimited beer samples from 12pm to 4pm while supplies last. These attendees that want to enter the Pintwood Derby will simply have to pay $5 more. Alosta Brewing has not yet specified if it will cost anything for minors to enter the derby, though they did mention that they will have gourmet food trucks on the premises.

Covina’s Alosta Brewing brought back their Pintwood Derby for its third year running this past Saturday evening. This charity fundraiser saw numerous people enter their crafted (toy) cars to race for trophies. Participants paid the $20 entry fee, and had to create a small car that would run down a track, purely powered by gravity and friction. Alosta Brewing sold a starter kit for $5 for those not familiar with designing the small car. Children competed in their own division, while adults competed in an adults division. Most of the children came from local families, while a handful of the adults competing consisted of reps from nearby breweries. This year’s Pintwood Derby benefited No Kid Hungry and Chefs Cycle foundation. Aside from this outdoor event, Alosta Brewing operated under normal business procedures, with mobile food vendors outside and beers flowing inside.

This past weekend, Downtown LA played host to Canstruction LA 2016, a charity art exhibit. Taking place at the old Farmers and Merchants Bank Building, this mini exhibit featured stunning works of art all constructed using canned food & drinks. The exhibit started on Thursday as part of the monthly Second Thursday Downtown LA Art Walk and remained open until Saturday afternoon for visitors to check out for free. All of the art works drew their inspiration from some other object, which the exhibit displayed next to each structure. At the end of the weekend, the organizers would donate all of the canned goods to charity. Although this particular exhibit only featured seven art works, the amount of canned goods surpassed many people’s expectations.

Underneath their tough exteriors, bikers have a sense of family and pride. This past Saturday at Harley Davidson of Huntington Beach, the charity Bikers Against Child Abuse International arrived to help host a fundraising event called All For The Kids. At this free and (sort of) all-ages event, visitors would find a massive display of motorcycles in the parking lot, motorcycle-themed vendors all around, live music in the afternoon, and a beer tent serving Hangar 24 and Einstök beer. Although advertised as no age restrictions, kids would not find much to do here, considering the amount of smokers and beer drinkers. Speaking of beer, all visitors could receive beer for FREE. The beer tent simply had a tip/donation box that allowed visitors to essentially pay their price for the beer. All of the money in this box went towards the Bikers Against Child Abuse charity, so visitors did not hesitate to donate towards the cause.

Huntington Beach Harley Davidson routinely holds varying events at their location in Westminster. Check out their website above for a full list of upcoming events. Also, give them a Like on Facebook to get updates about their event pages.
