The 2015 Long Beach Turkey Trot wrapped up last Thursday morning, signaling a great start to a hearty Thanksgiving. Thousands of eager runners gathered along the shores behind Belmont Shore to participate in a communal fun run to get the blood flowing in time for a holiday feast. This year’s run saw new time slots, with the 5k and 10k runs all starting at 7am, 8:30am, or 10am. The kids half-mile run occurred around 9:40am. Registration has remained the same over the past few years with a $40 base registration fee, with discounts available for early registration or student/military specials as well. Because of Thanksgiving, anyone could park at any metered parking spot for free, allowing for plenty of free parking, in addition to the nearby neighborhoods.
Turkey Trots will occur in many places across the nation on Thanksgiving weekend, so runners have choices on which one to pick. Looking for a way to either build up metabolism or burn off your Thanksgiving feast? Check out a Turkey Trot near you, and get your body back into motion.
