Craft beer continues to grow rapidly across the nation. Despite big beer trying to take over the industry one by one, the true entrepreneurs never capitulate in the face of adversity, and continue to persevere to strengthen the local economy and community. While Orange County may not have as huge a craft beer presence as their neighbor to the south, they have just as many fans and enthusiasts always looking for craft beer in all corners of this little county. Sunset Beach never had much of a craft beer presence, lying between Seal Beach and Downtown Huntington Beach. However, as of mid-October, Sunset Beach finally has a craft beer destination in the form of Riip Beer Company.
Located across from the entrance to Bolsa Chica State Beach, Riip Beer Company opened during the third weekend of October, less than a month ago from the time of this post. The opening of this microbrewery marks the first official craft beer establishment in Sunset Beach, since none of the current restaurants or bars in Sunset Beach dedicate themselves to craft beer or rotating taps. This brewery itself represents a standard brewery with the beers they have to offer, serving up the usual IPA’s, stouts, blonds, and wheats. In addition, they also sell homebrewing ingredients, such as malts, hops, and yeast. However, what makes Riip Beer Company stand out resides just outside their tasting room in the form of their beer van. Riip Beer Company uses this vehicle to not only self-deliver beer to clients, but also pour beer out of for special events or private catering.
Though relatively small with an even smaller following, Orange County’s craft beer fans expect to see Riip Beer Company rise up in the next year. Support your local craft beer community by liking Riip Beer Company on Facebook and following them on Twitter. When you get a chance, head on over to their tasting room in Sunset Beach and enjoy a cold one or two or more.
