This monthly artwalk occurs on the first Friday of every month. Each location offers different activities, but most will contain food & drink specials, art exhibits & displays, street performers, and more. Venice and Long Beach have the two largest gatherings of all First Fridays. Other locations include Westchester, Fullerton, and City of Industry. Most First Fridays locations cost nothing to attend, while the local businesses uphold their standard rules (e.g. bars 21+ only).

Valiant Brewing 2nd Anniversary Celebration

Valiant opened their doors to the public two years ago, and to celebrate, they will have two days of beer tasting at their tasting room in Orange. On Friday night, check out a VIP night that costs $70 to attend, and includes unlimited tasters of Valiant’s anniversary brews plus food pairings that include chocolate, coffee, and other hors d’oeuvres. On Saturday from noon to 4pm, Valiant will have their grand tasting event that costs $40 to attend, and includes unlimited tasters of most of Valiant’s lineup of brews, plus some in-house brewed sodas. No one under 21 may attend either event.

8th Annual Holi on the Beach

For those unfamiliar with Holi, if you have ran in a color run before, Holi takes the running part out of it, and adds music, dancing, and other activities, such as yoga. Celebrate Indian culture by getting covered with color and listening to entrancing music. Admission to this all-ages events costs $12 presale and $15 on the day of the event. Most importantly – wear old clothes, and keep spare towels in your car.

3rd Annual Holi Festival of Colors – Los Angeles

Want to get covered in color without the necessity of moving for five kilometers? Check out the annual Festival of Colors this Saturday. As simply a celebration of color, guests will enjoy live music the entire time, all while mingling and showing off colors. Color throwing occurs every two hours starting at noon. Admission costs $5, and guests can purchase colors at the festival.

West 3rd Street Crawl

Stroll and explore the businesses of West 3rd Street at this pub-like crawl. Participation costs $45, and comes with a handful of food & drink tastings and exclusive access to sales at select locations.

2015 Spring Busker Festival

Basically, Circue du Soleil. This artful all-ages outdoor festival brings out performers of various entertainment trades (jugglers, contortionists, stilt-walkers, etc) to entertain visitors. Free to attend, guests should seek alternate methods of transportation to arrive here, such as carpooling or public transportation, as decent parking will likely take a long time to find.

14th Annual Lantern Festival
12:00 pm – 7:00 pm, March 7
Chinese American Museum, Los Angeles

This free and all-ages festival celebrates Chinese tradition with recreations of street fairs filled with illuminating lanterns, music, lion dance, interactive arts & crafts, and more, all culminating with a glow-in-the-dark dragon dance at the end of the day. Local food businesses will sell authentic Chinese food and drinks as well.

Best Coast Beer Fest
12:00 pm – 9:00 pm, March 7
Embarcadero Marina Park South, San Diego

This looks like another big corporate beer festival, so stay wary. This one takes place in Downtown San Diego, and will take place over two 4-hour sessions: 12-4pm and 5-9pm. The evening session will include a movie screening of Anchorman plus another secret movie. General admission costs $45 per session or $75 for both sessions, while a VIP admission exists that costs $125.

Phantom Carriage Brewery – Grand Opening

Phantom Carriage Brewery, Carson

Carson’s first production microbrewery officially opens the doors to their tasting room this Saturday, and they have invited YOU to come check them out! Phantom Carriage will have ten of their brews on tap for the public to try, as well as some rare beers from guest breweries. No admission required – simply show up, and pay for beers as you go.

2015 Los Angeles Celtic Faire

Prepare yourself for St. Patrick’s Day by immersing yourself in the culture this weekend at the 2015 Los Angeles Celtic Faire at the Fairplex in Pomona. Featuring authentic food, beer gardens, live music, dancing, arts & crafts, storytelling, merchandise vendors, athletic competitions, piping, and more, guests will find plenty to do here to remain occupied all day. Single-day admission costs $10, while children enter for $5. Parking costs $10, so I suggest carpooling to alleviate that fee.

Sam Fest – 2nd Annual Los Angeles Barleywine Festival

This Saturday, 38 Degrees will tap over 30 different barleywines in honor of Sam Samaniego, a beer enthusiast who traveled to Toronado Barleywine Festival annually. Come enjoy some barleywines, and check out some of the rare beers available too. This event requires no admission fee – simply show up, and pay as you drink. Guests can park for free in the parking lot behind the restaurant.

Self Help Festival 2015

The festival for hardcore fans comes to Southern California this Saturday. Admission to this all-day music festival costs $42.50.

The Howl Event Space in Downtown Long Beach officially opens for business this week, and to celebrate their opening, they will have a FREE launch party for everyone to come check out. Experience live music, vendors, food, drinks, a photo booth, and more.

Blacklight Run – San Diego

Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego

The fun run madness continues with this nightly run through Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. This run takes place at night, and requires participants to wear all white while getting splattered with neon powder throughout the blacklight-filled course. By the end of the run, all participants will glow with many different colors and enjoy seeing a sea of glowing runners at the afterparty. Registration costs $20 by Wednesday and $45 afterwards, and comes with an event t-shirt, a glow pack to throw at other runners AFTER you have crossed the finish line, and a goodie bag full of items from the event sponsors.

Agent Orange – Live in San Diego

Legendary surf punk band Agent Orange will headline a show in San Diego this Saturday night. Tickets to this show cost $13 presale or $15 at the door. No one under 21 may enter.

Legendary punk band The Dickies will headline a show in Pomona this Saturday night. Tickets to this show cost $13 presale or $15 at the door. No one under 21 may enter. Guests can find plenty of free parking in the area, and can avoid paying to park in the adjacent parking lot.

The Coaster Run 5K/10K/Kids Run
6:00 am – 10:00 am, March 8
Knott’s Berry Farm, Buena Park

Participate in a charity run through an amusement park this Sunday morning with the Coaster Run. Choose between a 5K or a 10K, or a Kids Run for the little ones. As a charity run, no participant can win – all participants will receive a commemorative medal for finishing the run, plus a complimentary slice of Boysenberry Pie. All participants also receive a coupon for half off an adult’s admission to the amusement park good for up to a month following the run. Registration varies in price depending on the course, so refer to the website for details.

41st Annual Festival of the Kite
12:00 pm – 5:00 pm, March 8
Redondo Pier, Redondo Beach

Free to attend for all ages, kite flyers from all over will gather to all fly kites in unison. Participants can win prizes for highest flying, best handmade, youngest kite flyer, and more. Other activities include a yo-yo competition, a hot dog eating competition, and plenty of merchandise vendors.
