Prior to 2014, Huntington Beach never truly had a standalone microbrewery. In downtown, they may have Huntington Beach Beer Company, but they qualify more as a brewpub, and they do not widely distribute their beers. Huntington Beach also has Brewbakers, but they function more as a homebrew store than an actual brewery. In 2014, Huntington Beach welcomed their first actual microbrewery with Beach City Brewery, one of few Huntington Beach businesses joining the Orange County craft beer family. Located in an industrial block off the intersection of Beach Blvd and Slater Ave, this microbrewery has already greeted many craft beer fans with their more approachable brews (as opposed to strong brews) at recent beer festivals. At long last, craft beer fans can finally check out this brewery’s tasting room and taste the beers at any time during business hours. They may appear small, but Beach City Brewery has already put in tons of work with their production, and they proudly distribute canned beers as the only Orange County brewery to can their beers, such as their Pierside Pilsner. A crisp, refreshing brew, this 4.6% abv traditional German lager contains light notes of noble hops along with European malts, giving this brew a smooth dry finish. Nice and balanced, this brew tastes great at any time of the day at any time of the year. You can find Pierside Pilsner in cans at your local craft beer shop throughout Orange County.
