Returning bigger and better than ever, the Fall 2014 Long Beach Patchwork Indie Arts & Crafts Festival returned this past Sunday in Long Beach to its new location on Mother’s Beach. This semi-annual arts & crafts fair consists of a series of Sunday fests at multiple locations: Long Beach, Oakland, and Santa Ana. To envision Patchwork Fest, imagine an arts & crafts fair, but catered to a modern trendy crowd. As I describe it to others, imagine an art fair full of hipsters. Many locals set up their booths here, selling their wares, merchandise, apparel, accessories, foods, desserts, music, and so on. Patchwork Fest emphasizes supporting the local community, and the local community loves to give back. In fact, Patchwork has grown so much over the past few years that it had outgrown its former location at Marine Stadium. Patchwork Fest now needs to take up its own island, as the space the fest used up on Mother’s Beach trumped that of Marine Stadium.

If you have yet to do some Christmas shopping, Patchwork Fest represents a terrific opportunity to not only find some fantastic unique gifts for your friends & family, but also support your local community & economy. You can catch Patchwork Fest once more in both Northern California and Southern California before the end of the year. Folks in Northern California will find Patchwork Fest in Oakland in less than two weeks from now, while folks in Southern California will find Patchwork Fest in Downtown Santa Ana on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. For a free fest, what have you got to lose?
