19th Annual Taste of Anaheim

Taste food samples from Anaheim’s great local establishments this Thursday evening at the GardenWalk near Disneyland. Admission costs $40 presale and $45 at the door, and comes with unlimited food samples from all participating restaurants while supplies last. In addition to free parking, guests may bid on various prizes in a silent auction. All drinks come at an additional price.

Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk (Second Thursdays)

This free monthly event takes place over many blocks in Downtown Los Angeles. Many galleries will open late, and some parking lots will contain more art, vendors, food trucks, entertainment, and more. Unless you know business owners, free parking barely exists in Downtown LA, although some meters only operate until 8pm. First-time visitors should attend with someone who has gone here prior.

The popular 626 Night Market comes to Orange County this weekend at the OC Fair in Costa Mesa. This weekend-long all-ages festival brings the nightlife of the east to the west, and shows the locals what goes on at night in populated Asian cities. Visitors will find lots of food, merchandise, live entertainment, music, games, and more. Admission costs $5 per person, while parking costs $7 per vehicle. These night market events always see wall-to-wall people, so expect a big crowd all weekend.

Love wine, or want to get into wine? Wine Riot covers the entire spectrum of wine and people, from the newcomers to the experienced. Just like how a beer fest allows guests to sample different types of beer, Wine Riot allows guests to sample different types of wines from all around the world. Wine experts will deliver seminars for both consumers and those in the industry. Live DJ’s, a photo booth, temporary tattoos, and more will adorn the venue space. Wine Riot occurs in two sessions: 1pm-5pm, and 7pm-11pm. Tickets currently cost $60 per person. Prepare to either pay for parking or arrive via public transportation.

2014 Tour of Long Beach

Join hundreds of locals on a bike ride through Long Beach this Saturday morning, including the mayor and more city officials. This race for charity features different levels of riding for all skill levels, starting with the 100-mile ride, all the way down to the 4-mile family ride. Registration, which closes Thursday night, varies in cost based on the ride length, while the family ride comes at no cost.

The Color Run 5k – Orange County

The color run that started it all returns to Orange County this Saturday morning. This fun run takes the racing out of a 5k or 10k, and places participants in a running course where they will get showered with bright colors. All runners should wear white for this run, as they run through the course and absorb all the colors flying through the air. Registration for this color run costs $50 per solo participant, or $45 per person if registering as a team of four or more. Waves of runners will start at 9am and launch every few minutes following that for up to two hours, so do not fret about getting there on time.

Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge Race 5K – San Diego

If you have watched Wipeout and have always wanted to test your mettle on that course, you now have a chance with ROC Race this Saturday. This 5K course comes complete with obstacles from various similar TV shows to create a wacky race full of challenges and amusement. Anyone 13 and up can register to participate in this untimed obstacle race, and all registrants will receive a commemorative t-shirt. Following the race, stick around for food trucks, a beer garden, and live music from DJ’s and local bands. Registration costs $70 through Friday, and $85 on the day of the event. Bring extra cash with you for parking, food & drinks, and other merchandise.

47th Annual Sunset Beach Art Festival

Find the perfect Mother’s Day gift or any other great gift this weekend in Sunset Beach. Completely free to attend for all ages, the grassy area along Pacific Avenue gets filled with booths from local arts & crafts vendors all selling accessories, apparel, merchandise, and various other goodies. Local bands will play throughout the day, and a few food trucks will make their way down here to serve their wonderful eats.

2014 San Diego Chocolate Festival

Enjoy plenty of chocolate tastings, demos, and more this Saturday at the San Diego Botanic Garden in Encinitas. Guests pay the admission of the garden to enter ($12 general admission, discounts available for seniors, students, military, and children), then pay for tasting tickets to receive any of the chocolate or food. The garden will host activities for children to play with, while other guests can check out plant sales or other merchandise perfect for Mother’s Day.

4th Annual Session Fest

On the opposite side of strong ales lie session beers – beers lower in alcohol content while maximizing flavor. Brewers created session ales so that craft beer lovers can drink more in a session without going overboard, especially with strong ales or hoppy beers. Eagle Rock Brewery started Session Fest three years ago to encourage new craft beer drinkers to enjoy what breweries can offer, and they will repeat the fest again this Saturday. For just $15, guests will receive three pints of any session beer featured at the tasting room, in addition to keeping the glass they receive to drink out of. Guests may purchase additional drink tickets if desired. No one under 21 may participate.

2014 Asian Cultural Festival of San Diego

Taste great beers from breweries along the 78 Corridor at this mini festival this Saturday afternoon. Plenty of food trucks will come out too, making this a beer fest & food truck fest in one. General admission costs $25 presale or $35 at the door, and starts at 5pm. For $5 extra, guests may purchase the early entry ticket which allows entry at 4pm. Although guests of all ages can visit the food trucks, only guests 21 or over may enter the beer area.
