All the beer festivals in the past handful of weeks have warmed you up in preparation for the grandiose beer fest of them all! Introducing the Orange County Brew Ha Ha, Orange County’s greatest and foremost beer festival, back for its fourth year in a row, bigger and better than ever. I did not make up that claim – when they call themselves the best in Orange County, who else can support that claim? For example, if a product claims to work ten times better than the leading brand, then why does that product not lead the market? Do the testimonials prove anything else, or do the testimonials get bought? I can honestly say nobody got paid off in this post – you will only receive the facts straight from me.

The 4th Annual Orange County Brew Ha Ha will return to Oak Canyon Park in the hills of Irvine this Saturday, September 7th, 2013. As Orange County’s grandest beer fest not organized by a sole brewery, this beer fest always delivers the goods with everything they stock into one venue. Unlike some beer fests that only cares about numbers, Orange County Brew Ha Ha will likely sell out of tickets before the fest arrives. They only invite micro breweries with terrific craft beers, not that Shock Top junk, and this year, they plan to invite over 70 breweries to booze up all the guests. Not only will guests get to revel in all the beer goodness, but they will also have the chance to listen to keynote speakers from the craft beer industry, as they speak about all things craft beer and the industry.

We must not forget the amazing food on hand, as Southern California’s top food trucks will drive in to sling some killer eats, plus the many other booths serving treats, including Drunken Udder ice cream.

Last but not least, Huntington Beach ska band Reel Big Fish will perform at the Brew Ha Ha! If you have not seen them perform since the release of their last album last year, then you can kill two birds with one stone by indulging in craft beers while skanking to Reel Big Fish. Their presence alone will attract hundreds more to Brew Ha Ha, so you must act quick and obtain your tickets before they sell out! Buy your tickets now by clicking this link, where you can choose between a $45 general admission that starts at 1pm and comes with 10 beer pours, or a $60 VIP admission that starts at 12pm, comes with 15 beer pours, and grants access to a special seminar and tasting with one of the keynote speakers. Do not dawdle on this opportunity, as tickets will cost $10 more at the door, if any remain! Block out that day on your schedule, buy a ticket, invite your friends, and as Reel Big Fish says, Don’t Stop Skankin!

Read up on some tips to ensure a smooth and pleasant experience at this year’s Brew Ha Ha:

  • REMEMBER to bring PHOTO ID! Amazingly, many guests think they can enter without showing it to the front security.
  • Absolutely nobody under 21 may enter the festival. Do not even think about bringing your kids or pets.
  • Look up directions before arriving – cell phones receive no signal as you approach the park.
  • Basic toll-free directions: Get to the 55 freeway, exit Chapman Avenue, then drive east until you pass the lake, where a sign should point out when to turn left onto a road leading to the park.
  • Guests may park for free. Because of the park’s location, I do not recommend riding a bike or walking, although you may get dropped off.
  • Food come at a separate cost, so anyone wanting to eat should arrive with extra cash. Click here for a list of attending restaurants and food trucks.
  • If you see that it has no signal, just turn off your cell phone during the fest. Smartphones can enter Airplane Mode instead.
  • Though the park contains many trees, consider applying sunscreen, and have extra sunscreen available. Security will not confiscate sunscreen from you.
  • Stay hydrated throughout the festival. All attendees receive FREE fountain drinks on the premises.
  • Dress appropriately for hot weather. Southern California has seen a heat wave recently, and the combination of heat and alcohol will quickly lead to dehydration.
  • For prolonged drinking, start with lighter beers and work your way to stronger beers. Click here for a list of attending breweries.
  • Try to hold on to your beer glass – guests receive no replacement for lost or broken glasses.
  • All beers stop pouring at 4pm. An extra grace hour will allow guests time to sober up and find food before leaving.
  • Oak Canyon Park only has two exits: one back towards Orange, the other through the mountains leading of Rancho Santa Margarita. Police WILL patrol both roads leaving the park!

In addition to Reel Big Fish, lots of other forms of live entertainment will keep guests entertained and occupied. Click here for a list of the live entertainment. Cheer on the firemen if you see them playing the bagpipes!

Remember: if you have any questions, send me a tweet @OnePunkArmy – I have attended the Brew Ha Ha before, and driven to Oak Canyon Park numerous times.
