Voodoo Glow Skulls, Union 13, Left Alone, Chencha Berrinches, Death March, and many more bands graced the South Bay with their music last night at Alpine Village in Torrance. For $13 entry, guests could listen to punk and ska bands from not only the main stage, but a side stage as well:

The original lineup cited multiple bands that I did not see or hear, but more bands than the original lineup played that night anyways. Non-headlining bands I watched included Bad Apples, Death March, and Chencha Berrinches.

The pit never stopped – since the side stage filled the gap between bands on the main stage, any moments of silence did not last very long.

We come now to the headlining bands of the night. Up first, Left Alone had their set list out in plain sight:

Although I do not listen to them much, the few songs I did recognize felt great because I could sing with the band.

Finally, Voodoo Glow Skulls took the stage. I have already described how they enter, and they did not make an exception here. Although I found myself front and center for Voodoo Glow Skulls at the beginning of their set, that did not last very long, as the pit slowly sucked me away from the stage, and I ended up in the pit for a majority of the set.

I really do want everyone to go to a Voodoo Glow Skulls show, as you cannot find a ska-core band of this degree anywhere else. Voodoo Glow Skulls sets the bar for what meets ska-core’s criteria. For those staying local this weekend, Voodoo Glow Skulls will play a show this Saturday night at The Observatory. You may have a busy weekend, but trust me – do not miss Voodoo Glow Skulls!
